Security Doors Built for Stockton Homes
We live and work here just like you.

Stockton's 2020–2025 Consolidated Plan, published by the city, places older housing in South Stockton and parts of northeastern Stockton, with newer stock more prevalent around the urban fringe and especially toward the northwest. The 2020 Census counted 101,913 total housing units citywide (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 Census Redistricting Data, Table C1, published by the California Department of Finance in 2021). At the scale of a single front entry, that contrast is what matters: an older property may carry more repair history and nonuniform thresholds or trim, while a newer tract may repeat a builder plan down the block. Neither generalization can be assigned to any individual address without looking at it.
That is the reason every door here is measured in place. Steve's Mobile Security has produced custom, high-quality security products since 1999, and a custom frame is built to your opening rather than to a stock size that almost fits. With more than forty designs, a range of frame colors, and screen colors chosen separately, the finished entry can suit a much-modified older home or a recent build without either receiving a generic part.
What a homeowner notices afterward is steady rather than dramatic. Because the frame is rigid, a dog can lean on it for years without anything working loose, and the passage of children and everyday household traffic stops being something the entry slowly loses to. Because it was fitted tightly to the opening, insects and small critters lose the gap they usually rely on. And because it is a real barrier rather than a token one, the entry gains genuine resistance without giving up the view out or the air coming through. A knowledgeable, honest, passionate team builds to one long-standing rule: protection and appearance both matter, and neither should expire early.

A Front Door, Measured in Years Rather Than Days
Almost every comparison between entry products is made on the day of purchase, when everything is straight, tight, and new. That is the least informative moment to judge one. The honest way to evaluate a door is to follow it forward — through the first summer, the fifth year, the decade when a household changes around it — because the differences that matter are the ones that only show up with time.
Week One: What You Notice Immediately
The first thing a well-specified door changes is behavior. You start leaving the entry open, because you can see out to the step before deciding anything and because substantial air moves through the opening while the door stays closed and latched. A close perimeter fit, produced by measuring your actual opening rather than approximating it, means insects and the small critters that exploit a quarter-inch gap are largely kept out from the beginning. That is the week-one experience: an entry that is genuinely usable in a way the old one was not.
Season One: Where Conventional Products Begin to Slip
By the end of a first warm season, the divergence starts. A light insect screen has taken a summer of hands, shoulders, and pets, and the corners have begun to work. The mesh has stretched where it gets pushed. The latch no longer meets its keeper quite the way it did. None of this is dramatic and all of it is permanent, because a light frame that has racked does not come back into square. A custom door is a load-bearing assembly rather than a light frame carrying mesh, and a season is not an event in its life.
Year Five: The Durability Question, Answered Honestly
Five years in is where the specification proves out or does not. Consider what has actually happened to the door by then.
- Pets: a dog that leans, scratches, and puts its weight on the frame every time someone passes has had years to test it, and a rigid frame gives it a durable boundary rather than something that flexes.
- Children and daily use: thousands of passages, many of them with full hands and no free grip, are normal abuse that a properly built assembly absorbs without sag or rattle.
- Weather cycling: years of hot dry months and wet winters expand and contract everything at an entry; a frame built to the opening tolerates that better than one shimmed into an approximate fit.
- Appearance: the finish and the design are still doing the work they were chosen for, which is the difference between a door you maintain and one you replace.
On intrusion resistance the accurate statement is the same at year five as on day one: a well-built security screen door is a serious additional barrier at the entry, adding real resistance where a conventional screen provides essentially none. It is not a guarantee against forced entry, and it should never be described as one. That claim is deliberately kept separate from the pest-exclusion benefit above, because they are different functions that happen to share a frame.
The Choices That Age Well
Because a custom door is a long-horizon purchase, the specification decisions deserve more weight than they usually get. More than forty designs are available, which means the entry can be matched to the architecture of the house rather than to whatever was in stock — and a door chosen that way still looks right in year ten. Frame colors are selected from a range of finishes. Screen colors are chosen separately from the frame, controlling how present the mesh reads from the curb. Security mesh options depend on the specific door selected, and perforated screen colors and availability depend on the privacy level you want, the product chosen, and current supply. These qualifications are worth stating plainly, because a specification you understand is one you will still be satisfied with later.
Every Opening That Might Qualify
Front entries are the common case rather than the whole of it. Double-door entrances are specified as a matched pair. French doors, side doors off a kitchen or utility room, and rear entries onto a patio are all regular candidates, and rear entries are often the openings a household most wants to be able to leave open across a long season. The general rule is that a suitable hinged exterior doorway may be a candidate, settled by examining the opening rather than assuming from its type.
A Long Warm Season on the Water
The official Stockton Marina anchors a waterfront and boating identity in the city, and NOAA describes California's seasonal pattern as hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The combination produces a long stretch of dry-weather outings, with people and equipment moving through household entries on the way out and on the way back. It does not make everyone a boater and it does not quantify how often anyone opens a door. What it does mean is that an entry here is worked hard across many months a year, every year — which is precisely the condition under which the difference between a five-year product and a twenty-year one stops being theoretical.
Since 1999, Built for the Long Version
Founded in 1999, Steve's Mobile Security has spent that time on custom, high-quality security products. The team is knowledgeable, honest, and passionate about the work, and builds from one conviction: appearance and protection both matter, and a door that sacrifices either one is not finished. The consultation looks at your opening and what you want it to do over the years you will own it, and professional installation is what makes the specification hold. Judge the decision on the long version, and it gets easier to make.
