Security Doors Built for Brentwood Homes
We live and work here just like you.

Custom, high-quality security products have been Steve's Mobile Security's only business since 1999. The team is knowledgeable, honest, and passionate, and its working rule is unchanged: a security screen door has to protect an entry and look right on the house, and a door that manages only one of those has not done the job.
Brentwood makes the case for that approach on its own. The city's Downtown Specific Plan treats Downtown as a distinct established district, while the General Plan governs the newer residential growth spreading outward from it — two different kinds of built form, documented by the city itself. At the doorway the difference is concrete: an older or incrementally altered home may need real attention paid to its jambs, trim, thresholds, and porch clearances, while a newer tract entry is likely to be more standardized but still has to be measured individually. Among a population of 64,292 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 Census Redistricting Data, Table C1, published by the California Department of Finance, 2021), that spread of housing is exactly why nothing is ordered from a size chart.
What the finished door delivers is the same in either kind of home: substantial airflow with the main door standing open, a clear view of whoever is at the step, a durable boundary for pets, a close fit that helps keep insects and small critters out, and a serious additional barrier at the most-used opening in the house. Steve's brings the design, frame, and screen options to Brentwood homeowners and installs the result professionally.

Why a Specified Door Outlasts a Selected One
There is a real difference between choosing a product and specifying one. A selected door is picked from what happens to be stocked in roughly the right size, and every compromise after that is the homeowner's to live with. A specified door starts from the actual opening — its width, its jamb, its swing, its trim, the color of the house around it — and the product is built to those numbers. Almost everything worth saying about custom security screen doors follows from that one distinction.
The Inheritance: Insect Screens, Bars, and Dated Steel
Most homes arrive with a light insect screen at the front. It is fabric in a thin frame. It stops bugs and does nothing else — no perimeter, no resistance, no change in how it feels to stand in an open doorway. The usual upgrades overcorrect. Window bars and older steel security doors deliver visible hardness at the cost of everything else, darkening an entry and looking like an afterthought bolted to a finished house. A custom security screen door exists because that trade was never necessary.
Design: More Than 40 Choices
The design catalog is not decoration for its own sake; it is how a security product stops looking like one.
- Range — more than 40 design choices are available, from patterns quiet enough to read as trim to substantial decorative work meant to carry the entry.
- Frame color — multiple frame colors are available, letting the door resolve against existing paint, stucco, or a darker modern palette.
- Proportion — because the door is built to the measured opening, the pattern is scaled to that opening rather than cropped to fit it.
Screen, Mesh, and Privacy
The screening is a separate set of decisions from the design, and it is where comfort and visibility get tuned.
- Screen color — different screen colors are available and they change how much of the interior is visible from the street in daylight.
- Security mesh — heavier security-mesh options are available depending on the door selected, so the barrier is matched to the specific product rather than assumed across the range.
- Perforated screen — perforated screens and their colors depend on the privacy level wanted, the product chosen, and current availability; the more closed options give the strongest one-way feel from inside.
What Close Fit Does, and What It Does Not
Fit is the quiet benefit. A door built to its opening closes tightly around the full perimeter, and that close fit helps exclude insects and the small critters that work a threshold looking for a gap. That is pest exclusion, and it should not be confused with security. On the security side, the defensible statement is that the door adds a serious additional barrier at the entry and makes forced entry harder and slower. It is not a guarantee and no door makes a house impossible to enter. The assembly also gives pets a durable boundary and holds up to the normal abuse of children, animals, and daily use, while letting the entry move substantial air and keep a clear view of the step.
Openings That Are Candidates
Single front doors are the standard case. Double-door entrances can be handled as a matched pair. French doors can be fitted so a design reads correctly across both leaves. Side doors and rear entrances are frequently the openings a household uses most and leaves open longest. As a general rule, a suitable hinged exterior doorway may be a candidate, and the determination is made at the house.
Brentwood's Harvest Calendar Runs Through the Front Entry
Brentwood's economic development office treats farms as central to local culture and the local economy and maintains an official agritourism program (City of Brentwood). NOAA describes California's seasonal pattern as hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, which puts the farm season and the open-door season in the same months. The practical consequence at a house is unremarkable and constant: people, produce, boxes, coolers, and outdoor gear moving in and out through a front or side entry across the dry season, day after day, in a way no plan sheet accounts for. A door specified for that opening and built for that traffic is simply the version that still works in October.
Built Since 1999, Measured Before It Is Ordered
Steve's Mobile Security has built custom, high-quality security products since 1999. The team is knowledgeable, honest, and passionate, and it works from a fixed premise: appearance and protection both matter, and a door that satisfies only one of them is not finished. The sequence is deliberately unhurried — a consultation to work out design, colors, mesh, and privacy against your own house; measurement of the actual opening before anything is ordered; then professional installation. For Brentwood homeowners weighing the change, the useful first step is having the entry looked at and seeing the options against the house they will live on.
